Flight Of The Phoenix (Tribute To Middletown) is an original smooth contemporary gospel jazz composition, which stands in a class all by itself. The composer’s unique and well rounded musical talent is persuasive yet soulful inspiring, and contagious. His ability to surprise audiences with his art is something out of the ordinary. Sabas Whittaker always gives his audience what they expect, great art, great literature, and great music! Flight of The Phoenix must be listened to grasp and surf the understanding of his unique talent. The composer tells us it had been a long time dream to single-handedly write, compose, and produce an original musical project. Flight of The Phoenix was all written, composed, and produced by the talented artist, who’s music is relaxing, uplifting, inspiring, and soulfully persuasive. My guess is that he has proven himself once again to us. The Album, Flight of The Phoenix, pays tribute to his adoptive hometown of Middletown, Connecticut, and to his country of origin and birthplace of Puerto Cortes, Honduras. Sabas also pays homage to his mother and to his children, while taking time to remember his church family and friends of Cross Street AME Zion. Sabas’ gospel roots are clearly defined in his music, art, literature, and in the way, he lives his life. Sabas Whittaker is also an author, lecturer historian, and a visual artist with a Ph.D. in history and pastoral psychology.
